When I was a little girl, I enjoyed eating this kuih by peeling the different coloured layer by layer. This Kuih Lapis recipe was adapted from a Chinese Coobook ~ Malaysian Delicacies. To get started with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few components. You can cook kue lapis (steamed layer cake) using 6 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

  1. Take 250 grams rice flour250 grams of rice flour
  2. Take 100 grams tapioca flour
  3. Make ready 300 grams sugar
  4. Take 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. Prepare 900-950 ml coconut milk (medium thickness)
  6. Prepare To taste food coloring (I used green and pink)

  1. First mix all the dry ingredients together, add the coconut milk a little at a time so that it doesn't get gnarled, then stir until everything is well blended and the coconut milk runs out.
  2. Next, heat the steamer, grease the pan with a little oil.
  3. Then divide the dough into 3 parts and give the coloring according to taste.  (I used green and pink, and left one white, stirring until the color is even.
  4. Pour the dough into the pan (you can use a measure so that the thickness is the same), steam until the surface is solid, about 5 minutes using medium heat.  Pour the next layer and do it until the dough runs out.  After that, add 20 minutes of mucus.
  5. After cooking, remove it from the steamer and let it cool completely, just cut it, cover the knife with plastic so it's neat.
