Custard buns is one of the most well liked of recent trending meals in the world. It is simple, it is quick, it tastes yummy. It is appreciated by millions every day. Custard buns is something that I have loved my whole life. They are fine and they look fantastic.

Custard buns are soft milk bread filled with a creamy custard filling in the centers. They are delightful soft buns that make perfect snacks or breakfasts. Bread, bread on the blog again. Steamed custard buns are a dim sum classic, but I found them to be a perfect dish for holiday gatherings and parties as well.

  1. Take Dough ingredients
  2. Make ready 350 gm all purpose flour
  3. Make ready 15 gm dried yeast
  4. Make ready 2 eggs
  5. Get 150 gm sugar
  6. Prepare 2 dl milk
  7. Get 1 teaspoon cooking oil
  8. Prepare 1 dl cold water
  9. Make ready Filling ingredients
  10. Prepare 200 gm custard powder
  11. Make ready 2 dl water
  12. Prepare 1 dl heavy cream
  13. Take 1 dl icing sugar
  14. Prepare 200 gm blended corn from can
  15. Get 1 tablespoon melted butter
  16. Take Topping ingredients
  17. Prepare 1 egg (beat)
  18. Get Sesame seeds

It's usually a round bun with a custard swirl on top of the bun as a decoration. After I came to the US, I was looking for custard buns but couldn't find it in any local grocery store. I was surprised that something so popular in many Asian countries was nowhere to be found. Steamed custard buns are made with yeast dough.

Steps to make Custard buns:
  1. Mixed all the dough ingredients. Knead until become smooth dough texture. Put a side, cover up with kitchen cloth, let it rise, will take around 40min.
  2. Mixed all the filling ingredients in a big bowl (accept the blended corn & icing sugar). Stir well until all combine. Put in microwave for 1.5min on 750w. Take it out and add in icing sugar and blended corn. Stir it until texture combine and smooth.
  3. After 40min. Take out the dough. Knead again and cut it into small dough around 65gm each. Roll then into round shape, preparing to make the buns.
  4. Each small dough filling with the custard corn. Make it into round shape. After all the dough is done. Brush the egg ontop the buns and sprinkle the sesame seeds on. Let it rest for 25min before bake.
  5. Bake in 180° for 20min then is ready.

Fermentation of sugar in the dough by the yeast called Saccharomyces cerevisiae helps the dough to rise. Beat the custard powder with the butter eggs and milk, then stir in the suagr and fold in the sifted flour. Inspired from the most famous street snack in Thailand.
